A website hosting migration moves an existing site to a different hosting environment. It may also involve databases, scheduled tasks, email or domain records. A platform rebuild is a separate decision. NZHost starts by identifying what is running, prepares a proposed destination and plans testing, final data changes, changeover and rollback before the move is agreed.
Who this is for
Businesses changing hosting provider, moving a website or application environment, or coordinating a hosting change with their developer.
Define the scope before work begins.
Review files, databases, email and application dependencies
Prepare a destination and test the migrated site
Discuss domain and DNS changes, including Cloudflare where relevant
Agree on changeover, validation and rollback steps
Your proposal identifies resources, responsibilities, locations, backup arrangements, pricing and applicable support terms. These considerations are not fixed package inclusions.
BEFORE YOU CHOOSE
Questions about website migrations
Can you guarantee there will be no downtime?
The site, DNS caching and data-change requirements affect a move. We discuss the expected disruption, a suitable changeover window and rollback approach after reviewing the environment. A migration is not sold as a zero-downtime guarantee.
What should be tested before changeover?
Check key pages, sign-in, forms, file uploads, database operations and any payment or third-party integrations relevant to the site. A destination rehearsal helps reveal dependencies before traffic changes.
What happens to URLs, email and DNS?
Keep useful website addresses where possible and map meaningful replacements if paths change. Review mail records separately. DNS changes and cached records need a changeover plan; Cloudflare configuration must be assessed for the actual setup.
